Bankhouse Named Among the Top 1% of Care Homes in the UK
We’re delighted to share a milestone we’re enormously proud of: Bankhouse Nursing Home has been transformed from ‘Requires Significant Improvement’ to ‘Good’ across all four key areas by Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW).
Alongside this, Bankhouse is now rated 10/10 on carehome.co.uk — the highest-rated service of 135 homes in its postcode, and placing it within the top 1% (99th percentile) of more than 16,500 care homes listed across the UK. For a family weighing up where a loved one will live, those are about the strongest independent signals of quality you can find.
What matters most is what sits behind those numbers: safer, more attentive, more person-centred care for the people who call Bankhouse home. The turnaround was delivered over a focused six-to-eight months through strong leadership on the ground, led by manager Mirela Matei and her team, with a clear focus on care planning, staffing, the home environment and resident wellbeing.
Neil Reid-Chesworth, Responsible Individual, said the progress at Bankhouse had been “outstanding,” praising the team’s commitment and “strong focus on delivering safe, person-centred care.” Managing Director BP Khanal added that the achievement reflected a collective effort, with a focus that has “always been clear — putting residents first and creating a home where people feel safe, respected, and cared for.”
Our heartfelt congratulations to Mirela and everyone at Bankhouse. This is what good care looks like.
